1) Brand New Chips are 100% bulk checked by the Chip maker (Samsung / Hynix / Intel)
2) These Chips are assembled in casings and branded with your logo
3) The completed USB keys is then checked via software in bulk through a Master Computer for any digital internal errors
4) Finally a 85% sampling is taken where files are physically inserted into the drive and deleted to ensure they work.

USB keys are resonably durable. They can withstand everyday knocks and even a little water splashing (they need to be fully dry inside and outside before you try using though otherwise they will short circuit). So exactly how much punishment can they take? Well it all depends on the type of promotional USB key you select. For example:

1) A Metal flashdrive - Expect it to be durable against drops off desks as well as resistant to you sitting on it. In fact there is a small chance that throwing it hard onto a concrete ground will still make the product useable.
